Admission to the VISX System Operator Certification Course is restricted to VISX customers.
Who should attend?
Ophthalmologists, and ophthalmic medical assistants and technicians who will be assisting with Laser Vision Correction using one or more of the VISX STAR Excimer Laser Systems.
When should personnel attend a certification course?
Following the purchase of a new laser for your practice, and whenever new personnel are hired to assist in LVC surgery.
New laser purchase
A few days after your laser installation and delivery dates are confirmed, a representative of the VISX Training department will contact you to arrange your System Operator training date. One of the VISX trainers will train a maximum of four staff members as soon as possible following delivery and installation of the laser system.
New staff certification
Newly hired operators and technicians are required to obtain Operator Certification from VISX.
Where are certification classes located?
Operator Certification can be taught at your site or at VISX corporate headquarters in Santa Clara, California. Call the VISX Training department, 800-246-8479, ext. 7054, to discuss which option is best for your practice.
This is the current VISX site training schedule. Additional dates may be added if justified by demand.

How much does certification cost?
VISX in-house certification is $500.00 per attendee, and does not include travel, lodging, or meals.
Pricing for on-site training depends upon the terms of your sales contract. VISX in-house certification is often less expensive for the customer, even when moderate amounts of travel are involved.
